This hotels common areas are well updated and stylish and comfortable. But the rooms really need updating. The terrace is lovely, but nobody had bothered to keep it clean Our bathroom was a wet bathroom = that is the tiny bathroom had no shower stall or tub. SO the whole bath got wet when one person had a shower. The breakfast was vile. We even saw a hair in the croissants. Makes me want to puke when I think of the breakfast. Our sheets were dirty when we checked in. Our carpets made us itch. This hotel haS A LOT OF POTENTIAL, BUT THE MANAGEMENT AND THE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF SEEM TO BE INDIFFERENT.

This is a charming hotel, which derives much of its atmosphere from the pictures and furnishings in the many public spaces and on the spacious and comfortably furnished terrace. Our room this time was rather smaller and less well-positioned (on the corner of the two streets) than on our previous visit, but we were nonetheless comfortable. The breakfast is very good, although the service was a bit chaotic on the Saturday, when the lady in charge had her day off.

The staff at the front desk was very helpful. The breakfast was good, especially the espresso!! If you don't mind walking then i would say this hotel is in a good location. It's about 5 minutes from the central market and about 10 minutes from the river. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

On first arrival of this hotel the vibe was great. The staff were helpful and the lobby of the hotel was beautiful. When we arrived in the room we were a little disapointed with the room size. The room was extremly small and there was a little window which didnt let much light in. We had a look into the other rooms just when passing the cleaners and they looked sufficiently bigger so i think it was just bad luck with the room. The breakfast was lovely and the service was lovely. The pool table came in handy. The location was great, its right in the middle of firenze but not to near the hustle and bustle. Its also Overall id recomend this hotel to anyone fantastic, if you dont get the small room. 3 minute walk from the santa novella train station where we went to sienna and pisa.

The hotel and its staff are super from the front desk to the dining room. They all really tried to accommodate the guest's needs. Restaurant recommendation was the best of my entire 2 weeks in Italy. Very pleasing decor. What it should have is a computer inside the hotel connected to the Internet and be free of charge. I had to walk outside and around the corner and pay for Internet access. It should also have US CNN in English on the TV system and also a US English movie channel free of charge.

This hotel is situated within walking distance of the Firenze train station and makes a real effort to wow travelers upon entry. Upon walking in, visitors are greeted by billowing curtains, beautiful paintings, and a huge collection of lithograph prints from Italy's past. The staff speaks many languages and can accomodate most travelers needs in a fast, efficient and couteous manner. Breakfast in the morning is well worth getting up and includes a variety of items highlighted by all the complimentary cappucino or coffee that a guest could ask for. The rooftop terrace is, to my understanding, only open during the evening and I personally did not make much use of it. All together, this hotel was a pleasure and I would recommend it to anyone looking for pleasant and easy to reach lodgings in Firenze.

The Cellai Hotel was a well appointed yhotel with a truly European ambience, filled with many lovely antiques, original paintings and photos with an overall quaint appearance. The staff was more than hospitable and kind; all requests were handled quickly and efficiently. The room was clean, updated, and quiet; while it may have been smaller than some American hotel rooms, it was quite sufficent with quality furnishings. The complimentary breakfast included a ham and cheese tray, fresh fruit, assorted cheeses, variety of croissants/pastries, juices, and caffiene beverages from hot tea to expresso. More than satisfying and delicious. The real bonus is the 5th floor garden terrace overlooking the city - what a quiet escape in the day, grand view of the sunset at night. And the location was easy walking to all the sights and resturants.

Recently spent three nights and this hotel and had a great experience. The staff was very helpful and polite even after a mix-up of our room was made and corrected right away. The room we ended up with (room 125) was VERY spacious and clean. We found out that all the rooms were different in size so we were very, very luck to have such a large room. The hotel is about a 15 to 20 min walk from the train station and easy to find if you have a map to reference. When staying here make sure to ask the hotel staff to make your reservation for many of the near by museums such as the Uffizi Museum. It saved us many hours of waiting in line just to purchase our tickets. The hotel breakfast was pretty basic and not very eventful, so if you're looking for something more substantial other then a continental breakfast you will not find it here. There is a rooftop bar/lounge which was nice but we never managed to find the bar open so we just brought our own wine to drink while enjoying the view. I would also suggest that if you're looking to purchase wine to take home from Florence that you purchase your wine from the local grocery store. The wine is the same as in the local Liquor shops but at a fraction of the cost.

I couldn't be happier with this hotel. It has so much character and is such a fantastic change from your everyday chain hotel, for example, a Marriott. The employees were friendly, the price was reasonable, and nothing beats the rooftop. You have a fantastic place to read, lounge, enjoy a sunset. It is a bit of a walk from the "tourist" historic center, but I'm from New York, and we walk everywhere anyway. It isn't bad, even by Manhattan standards. You are mere feet away from the Academy Gallery, so that part was extremely convenient. The breakfast was super delicious as well. When in Florence, ONLY stay here. you won't be disappointed.

We were in Florence for just two nights on a girl's weekend. The hotel was perfect for us. Great location just 10 minutes walk from everything. Three of us shared a room which was spacious and comfortable. The decor throughout the hotel was delightful with landings decorated with beautiful antique furniture and lovely pictures and candles. The roof garden was a dream and a perfect place to open a bottle of chianti purchased at the little shop opposite the hotel. The hotel thoughtfully provided glasses on the roof terrace which is beautifully decorated with comfortable cane furniture and a view over the roof tops. Good breakfast. Our room was a bit noisy on the first floor so ask for a higher level at the back of the hotel if possible. The noise didn't spoil our stay. A gem of a hotel and thoroughly recommended.

Cleanliness & location are so important and this hotel scores highly in both for me. You can enjoy your walk to all the main places within 20-30 mins depending on your pace. Hotel decor was also very good. But my room storage was a disappointment for me. I mean, why put a large cupboard in the room when the base inside has a great hole in it which prevents it from being used? It didn't even have the TV on top! Breakfast service was very attentive to clients, but the dining management were less interested in rapidly clearing tables. Every morning we arrived for breakfast before 8.30 am (so we weren't ever late) and every morning we had to wait for a free table to be cleared. Small matters perhaps, but that's why I can't give top marks for service and room comfort.

This is an excellent hotel in the center of Florence. It's located within a nice walk of all the principal sites of central Florence. The staff is wonderful, friendly and largely English speaking (sometimes just a little bit, but the front desk personnel almost all speak English well enough to be helpful), with Spanish and, of course, Italian also on offer. The hotel is nicely decorated with old Italian prints and lithographs and each room is clean, up to date and functional. Rooms vary from one to another and repeat guests such as me delight in seeing what the room will be like on each subsequent visit. A generaous continental breakfast is provided, with coffee made to order. This is a wonderful hotel, deluxe without being over the top, and well worth a stay.
