We chose this hotel because of its location; it is right in the middle of Theatreland, 2 minutes away from 2 subway stations, 5 minutes away from Rockefeller Centre, approx 7/10 minutes to Times Square. Our room was rather small, had a cupboard where only 1 suitcase would fit in, and a 2-drawer chest in which to fit any underwear, T-shirts etc... . However, it was clean, the sheets and towels were changed every day. Because our room was at the back of the hotel, we could not hear any of the noice outside. This hotel suited our needs - we wanted a central place, we were out from 09.00am onwards, only returning back late at night, and all we needed was a clean bed to sleep in, and a clean bathroom with hot water and good shower pressure. The breakfast is not included in the room rate and is not great. Internet is not free, and does not always work. Staff were willing to help, but not very knowledgeable. There are a lot of very good restaurants around so it really did not matter that the hotel's breakfast was not great. We would most certainly return back if we travel to NYC again, simply because of its location.

All the superior rooms in this hotel are at the front of the building and the windows are paper thin. we were unfortunate enough to be there while construction was going on and steel plates had been left on the road to cover a big hole. Every car that drove over them caused a terrible racket which keep us up at night. We asked to be moved and were out in a room much smaller and were not compensated the difference despit an arguement. The lobby is a nice 3 star but the rooms are definately 2 star. all this hotel has going for it is a good location. Will never return

We went in mid July 2009. Similar to other reviews - Great location, small room. Attached restaurant has great food, but I felt mislead by the advertised 15% discount for hotel guests. It was only 10%. Some common sense service issues came up. Whoever mans the front desk should know how to check people in. I had to wait 20 mins for someone to come back from a break so I could check in. Also, if you have 2 guests in a room, 2 bath towels, and 2 handtowels, doesn't logic imply that 2 wash cloths should be left by housekeeping? We had to call every day to ask for a 2nd one. But these are minor details. We got a great rate for a NY hotel in a really convenient location.

The hotel was fantastic. We were there in the summer, and it was of course warm; but the air conditioner was a life saver. Everyone working at the hotel were exceptionally nice, and it is because of the employees that I would stay there again. The rooms are small, it's New York, and the place is kind of old; but you can't beat the convenience of the location. Just a couple block's from Time's Square, and surrounded by subway stations, this hotel is in the perfect place.

New York City..luckily we were not spending a great deal of time in the room, because it was small! However after our initial shock, we grew to embrace its cozy charm. It had great water pressure, comfy bed, good A/C and historic ambiance. The location was ideal: right in the heart of the theater district and a subway stop just steps away. Friendly service and the restaurant downstairs was delicious! Parking across in the Theater lot convenient and reasonably priced, but our car had a ding, the car key was bent and there was gum on the floor mat.

This hotel is in a wonderful neighborhood in Manhattan. The lobby looks nice enough. The rooms are terribly small, dingy, look nothing like the pictures shown. There's a security guard sitting in the hallway near the elevators on each floor. The guard on my floor was talking on her cell and filing her nails. I rejected the first room due to stains on the sheets. The second room appeared to have no window. You just couldn't see through the window around the window AC unit. After an hour, the third room was a bit larger and passable to spend the night in. There are so many other good hotels in Manhattan. This was not worth the savings.
