When I decided to take my wife to Paris for the start of our honeymoon I had in mind a classy Parisian hotel with character. When I found this place I knew it would be great. Not quite the classic I had in mind but full of character both in architecture and decor. It's not luxury or chique but it's comfortable and distinctively Parisian with some operatic glam thrown in. The bathroom was bigger in real life than it looked in the photo. The double bed was the classic Parisian-hotel two singles with one sheet affair although this was not as big a problem as I'd thought it might be.

Location of hotel is so-so (unless you are going to the Folies Bergeres). Our stay was blighted by the complete lack of air conditioning (it was broken) on a 30+ C Paris night. Very average altogether, for a four star hotel.

We shose this hotel for the second of two nights in Paris because we were attracted by the pictures of over-the-top Empire style decor - a taste of acertain kind of France. It was comfortable, though the lift didn't always work. Mattress fine, but firm-ish. Barthroom spotless. No one to help take our bags up, and the man at the desk replied in English when we addressed him in French - which no doubt is intended to be helpful, but is in fact a bit frustrating if one is trying one's best!

The hotel was perfect. Beautiful hotel, very comfortable and the staff were great and helpful. It was in a great location for the metro and was a lovely 15 min walk to the louvre. Surrounding area has great bars and brasserries too. I would be staying here again. Wonderful hotel. Irish Couple - 04 Mar 09.

We stayed for the weekend with friends - looking for an inexpensive bolt-hole while we spent most of our time indulging ourselves in Paris. We were not expecting anything fancy but were pleasantly surprised as was our friend is Sales Director for a luxury global hotel group. The hotel has about 30 rooms across 6 floors, occupying the corner of a building - the bar and reception are tiny (but quaint enough for it), we never had breakfast so cannot comment but the rooms themselves were clean, surprisingly spacious and comfortable. For what we paid it was excellent value - just as well given a Sterling exchange rate that made one of the world's most expensive cities even more so!

The staff was very friendly. The hotel was beautiful and well kept. However, the air conditioning in the rooms does not cool well. Also, they did not make clear that breakfast in the morning was 18 euros a person!! When I checked in I was left with the impression that breakfast was included wtih the room and when I checked out they were going to charge us quite a bit of money for breakfast. Fortunately the manageer walked up and heard the conversation. I said I wouldn't have eaten breakfast if I had known it was 18 euros a person. She decided not to charge me.

Reviewed by David of Los Angeles on Jul 25, 2008
One's first impressions of the hotel are colored by the neighborhood in which is located and by the reception staff - impressions which are inarguably at odds with one another. The neighborhood is busy, dirty and not very "bon vivant". Alternatively, there are many food choices - ranging from low to high end. The staff at reception are extremely helpful, welcoming and full of information, allaying any immediate fears one has that are caused by the neighborhood. The rooms are small but comfortable, as are the bathrooms. The hotel is 1 block from the Grand Boulevards metro stop (very convenient), making a tourist or businessperson's life quite a bit easier. The breakfast is definitely worth missing (re-heated croissants from a box and pre-made food), especially for the price.

I am happy to have selected this hotel. I do not like to spend too much on hotels for a weekend away - especially in Paris, which in unbelievably expensive - even for someone who lives in London, but because of previous bad experiences there I decided I was going to spend a bit more. The only negative I have is that there was no iron available for my shirts. Staff were extremely friendly, the hotel is 2 minutes away from a Metro station and both to the South as well as North of the hotel there are plenty of restaurants and shops. It is small, too, which I like very much. I can recommend it highly.

Have been to Paris several times and this hotel is located in a section where you can walk to many sites. If you dont like to walk, stay elsewhere otherwise evrything worth seeing in Paris is less the 30 min walk. Good location for food, lots of little bars and Restaurants. Hotel is small but rooms are better then average size for Paris. Good for business or couples if you get a reasonable rate not a family hotel. Hard rock cafe is 1 block away.
