Ideal for the Metro which is only a two minute walk from the hotel. Not a particularly good area, but okay. Food prices in hotel are a little above average. Not a lot of places to eat around the area, but found one Taverna which was very reasonably priced and the food was good. Room decor a bit dismal, but the room was clean as was the bathroom so no complaints. The staff were polite friendly and very obliging.

Perhaps at one time this was a fine hotel, however it is now in very poor condition. The room was terribly inadequate as well as dark and dingy. It was very poorly appointed (closet had no hangers; there was no hair dryer or glasses, the towels were frayed and thread bare; the drapes were hanging off the rod; the spread had cigarette burn holes in it and the blanket was dirty. In general the room was not clean; especially the bath which had black mold grwing in the shower and smelled of sewage. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

From the pictures of the hotel, I expected a clean, up to date hotel. The hotel was not very clean, the glasses were dirty and the rooms run down. The hotel was hard to get to and in a run down area. Our room had a window to a covered courtyard,no outside window.

We stayed at the Hotel Rio, in Athens. I'm very surprised that place is listed on Hotels.com. The bathroom was smelly and had small bugs. on the second day, we requested a new room, and were told to wait until morning. Upon insisting, we were giving a different room, without the bad smell or the bugs, but several bathroom fixtures were in bad condition: shower head could not be angled properly, shower head rod was not securely fastened to the wall (rod kept falling off), and I had to fix the toilet flushing mechanism. Upon checking out at the end of our stay, we were charged a 190 Euro gratuity fee. We did not know about this fee before hand, and it came as somewhat of a shock. This hotel looks like a place that used to be nice, but is no longer properly maintained.

This hotel was nice and in a good location. Service was great, but the air conditioning didn't work. No matter how nice the hotel, sweating while sleeping leaves a bad impression.

Hotel Rio is located around the corner from the Metro which is very convenient for travel to sights, shopping, airport, ship ports...etc. There is a travel agency linked to the hotel and they helped with ferry ticketing to a Greek Island. The person at the desk speaks good english but the rest of the staff do not. The bathroom for the quad bdrm is small and dingy in appearance. One night we were kept awake until past midnight with a loud and angry fight between 2 of the hotel staff members...thank goodness we could not understand what was being yelled in greek.

Vær obs på å få reservert rom i den nye fløyen. Der er det koselige rom. Den gamle fløyen består av slitte, ikke så koselige rom. Rommene er generelt små, men ok. Perfekt beliggenhet i fht. Plaka, Akroplis osv.

Ingen takterrass, inga balkonger, förhållandevis dyrt i hotellbaren. Ok frukost för grekiskt hotell. Längtar tillbaks till Plaka!
