Where to start? First: The hotel advertises flexible check-in times. When we arrived from JFK they told us it could be as late as 2PM before we could check-in. Travelling with two younger children, we had hoped to be able to nap when we got there. We were not allowed to even wait wait in a foyer that was off to the side and rest as it might be offensive to guests checking out. We were rudely asked to leave and come back hours later. Mind you, our body time was about 4am and we had no real sleep due to flying overnight. Second: We were put in a room that was at the back of the hotel. We soon discovered that it is about 30 feet from SEVERAL train tracks. The windows are NOT sound proof and we heard every train ALL night long. Third: It was at least 3/4 of a mile and a mile from the two closest Tube/Train stations. We walked far everywhere we went. Fourth: No restaraunts near the hotel except for the hotel's own asian restaraunt. Fifth: There was no one there at check out time at the desk and had to walk across the hall to the adjoining hotel to check out. I work for a major airline and stay in international hotels all the time. This hotel was incredibley disappointing. I felt terrible for my children as this was the first time they had ever been to an european destination.

This hotel was great. Granted, we ended up paying a little more for an upgraded room (wanted a view), but when we opened the door and all we saw was Big Ben and Parliament out of the floor to ceiling window, how can you complain. Our suite had a balcany overlooking the river, a small kitchen area and a washer. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel, and will stay there next time we are in London....but do get the upgrade, it's worth it.

We loved the restaurant Chino's and the prices were very reasonable and the food was delicious. Can't say enough good things about this hotel.

We had a lovely experience at the Plaza on the River. The rooms are very clean and spacious, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The location is a bit out of the way for some sights (it's close to the London Eye), but public transit is wonderful so it wasn't an issue for us. The rooms are equipped with a kitchen and laundry, and there is a great market next door that is open late. Room service was better than expected and came quickly and everyone was extremely polite. We had a view of the Thames--but looking the opposite direction from all of the attractions (like Big Ben and parliament)--if you care about such things, you'll want to be sure to make a request. We definitely had four star treatment (and we paid three star prices, so we were pleased), but if you are looking for a five star place, you might be disappointed. The small details that make a place five star just aren't there. The staff are eager and friendly, but just don't seem to have the experience or training that you expect in a five star hotel. For example, our rooms weren't ready when we arrived, and the desk attendant seemed surprised that we wanted our luggage held while we went for a walk. The concierge took them and didn't give us a claim check, insisting that we didn't need one. Then when we returned we were chastised by the person on duty for leaving our bags without a claim check. In any event, given the price we paid, we weren't at all bothered by such details, and had a lovely stay. The pictures on the website are very accurate representations of the rooms.

The room was filthy, from the toilet, curtains, floors, cutlery, carpets, lift, towel, desk, etc etc etc. Very dirty and not nice at all, situated right next to the railway line, so forget about sleeping if you don't have the best available suite!! The two concierge and doormen that I dealt with, are so unfriendly, inpolite and just plain rude. The housekeeping staff that I dealt with, don't really speak English. I will not stay at this hotel again!

We arrived late and were checked in to a room with broken floor and soiled carpet. The whole room was stuffy and the vent only sent out warm air that has strange smell. When I opened the window to ventilated, the noise of train blasted in. The train only stopped running shortly somewhere between 2 am to 5 am. The sleeping sofa mattress is only 1.25 inches thick and lump down without people on it. We were told that the A/C was off because hotel is in winter mode. Although I have made the confirmation about our stay, they told us that b/c we arrived late that our room had been assigned to other people and the night manager assured us that they will have better room for us tomorrow. However, when we talked to them the next day, the day manager told us that because of the room type we paid, they cannot changed our room and the night manager told her that in no way they could change our room. My husband were willing to pay for an upgrade, but the manager said that they have new customers checking in and some have been with they for a while. In other words, they have room but they just won't give us. We spent over a thousand dollars and pre-paid a month ago for this vacation. But the staff that we dealt with were rude and the room was not up to a 4 star standard. Also, words of caution, their swimming facility is off-site if you may use that feature. After suffering from 3 nights of lost sleep in that room, with my red eyes and a look of a daemon, I got my wish and have a better room from different staff and manager. This time, (different) manager on duty and staff are extremely courteous and sympathetic. The room, different from previous one, are clean and with a view. Even the A/C is off, the vent sent out cool clean air. They knew the sleeping sofa was broken, therefore, 2 cots were sent in, which is superior better than the sleeping sofa in the old room. Overall, I would not risk a chance to stay in this hotel. Not only for the unstable quality of the room and staf

We spent 5 days in March for Spring Break. This hotel was a very good value as we had two teenagers and needed space. The kitchenette worked well. Having the ability to do laundry and eat in was a big plus. A living area, master bedroom, and very large bathroom made for comfortable arrangements. The staff was helpful and responsive, but had difficulty when it came to actually being able to solve problems - such as our only real complaint - the carpet in the master was filthy. We were informed that hotel management has it steam cleaned once per month - we would recommend they inspect each unit and determine a more appropriate schedule - more for some, less for others. All in all, we would definitely stay at this location again - just a short walk to the tube (6-7 mins). If you have a tube pass, there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel (runs about ever 5-10 mins). While most people do not head southeast of the hotel, there are some neat areas with good pubs close by as well as decent restaurants and take out pizza.

We were upgraded to my surprise, so we ended up with a 2-room suite overlooking the river. We had a lovely balcony and we could see Big Ben and Westminster Abbey from there. Our entire visit was superb. We walked a bit less than 1 km to reach the subway station. There were busses that passed right by the hotel that I probably should have bothered to learn about but didn't. There was a washer and dryer in our room -- I had trouble though making the dryer function work and nobody seemed to know how to help me with that unfortunately. We only stayed 1 night, so not a lot of time to fix that issue. The hot water also went out for a few hours in the evening while we were there. Those issues aside, the room was absolutely fabulous and we enjoyed our stay! There's a convenience store right next door by the way, which was very handy for late-night snacking, etc.
